The MySQL Windows Experience Team is proud to announce the release of MySQL Notifier version 1.1.5, the latest addition to the MySQL Installer for Windows.
MySQL Notifier enables developers and DBAs to easily monitor, start and stop all their MySQL database instances. It provides a familiar Microsoft SQL Server look and feel and integrates with MySQL Workbench.
MySQL Notifier is installed using the MySQL Installer for Windows.
The MySQL installer comes in 2 versions
- Full (150 MB) which includes a complete set of mysql products with their binaries included in the download
or
- Web (1.5 MB - a network install) which will just pull the MySQL Notifier over the web and install it when run.

MySQL Notifier 1.1.5 introduces the following features:
• The MySQL Utilities can now be opened from MySQL Notifier if installed separately from MySQL Workbench (it is no longer bundled with MySQL Workbench 6.x).
• Added Workbench connections edition capability right from the Monitor MySQL Server Instance window of the MySQL Notifier (accessed through Actions > Manage Monitored Items… > Add… > MySQL Instance). Any of the listed MySQL Workbench connections can be right-clicked and a new “Edit Connection” context menu is available for users to edit the Workbench connection properties.
• Changed the way the Workbench connections and servers files are monitored, now the Notifier detects automatically when Workbench is installed or uninstalled and starts or stops monitoring its files on those events so MySQL Notifier does not need to be restarted to setup the monitoring of the files.
Also this release contains the following bug fixes:
• When the user deletes the .INI file for any MySQL server isntallation at c:\ProgramData\MySQL Server 5.X\ and its related Windows service is not deleted it caused an error on MysqL Notifier who relies on the server’s INI files. Fixed code to add an additional check to verify such .INI files exist before attempting to get configuration values from them.
o Bug #17432516 - MYSQL NOTIFIER OPENS AND GIVES AN ERROR MESSAGE "HIGH SEVERITY ERROR"
o MySQL Bug #70282 - MySQL Notifier opens and gives an error message "High Severity Error"
• Fixed the creation of the Windows schedule task that calls the MySQL Installer to check for updates.
o Bug #14388579 - SCHEDULED TASK TO CHECK FOR UPDATES DOESN'T START IN XP
• Fixed a problem in which MySQL Service menu options (Configure Instance and SQL Editor submenus) were not refreshed correctly when the Workbench connections tied to them were changed on MySQL Workbench.
• The SQL Editor submenu did not automatically refresh when connections were added or removed outside MySQL Notifier while it was running.
• Upgrading MySQL Notifier to a new version corrupted its configuration file.
• Added code to refresh MySQL instances when MySQL Notifier is loading so if Workbench was uninstalled and there were instances pointing to now invalid connections, they are removed and the menu items do not appear empty.
o Bug #17671410 - NOTIFIER DOES NOT UPDATE INSTANCES EXISTED IN WORKBENCH WHEN REMOVING WORKBENCH
• Fixed code that attempted to reflect changes done to a connection being used by a monitored MySQL Instance after adding new Workbench connections.
o Bug #17697914 - CHECK ADD INSTANCE LIST AND CLICK "CANCEL", RAISE ERROR
